Flora DeLucchi Collection of Pre-19'th century Italian Lace

The museum has been fortunate to be able to borrow part of an unusual collection of old lace. It was collected in Italy by Flora DeLucchi, up until her death in 1931. Kim Davis was instrumental in arranging to borrow his third of the collection from Mr. Larry Bendoski. It is unusual to find lace still meticulously mounted on strips of blue paper or to find a large portion of a collection still intact. There is a wonderful assortment of handmade needle and bobbin laces from Italy, as well as macrame' and gold lace from the region. There are a number of early Belgian and Flemish pieces. The remaining pieces represent a host of countries. Several of the pieces date from the late 16'th century.
